17 Years Later its the sequel of the BOY CULTURE the hit sex work romance

17 years is a long time in calendar years but so much more in gay years.  That’s the time it took to get a sequel of Boy Culture the multi-award-winning story of a  gay male escort from filmmaker Q. Allan Brocka.  In 2006 the escort X (Derek Magyar) was balancing complicated relationships with his roommates—one of whom, Andrew (Noah’s Arc‘s Darryl Stephens), he’s in love with—and his long list of clients.  It was groundbreaking back then by putting gay sex and sexuality on screen in an honest, authentic way.

The sequel …..Generation X ….. is set a decade after the first film and sees the return of X and Andrew who have spent the last 10 years on and off.  They are officially broken up now but are still living together as they are short of funds.  Now 40-year-old X wants to try sex work again, but it’s a whole different world out there now

Matthew Rettenmund one of the writers, says he hopes the sequel will speak to audiences who are X’s age and have grown up with him, but also to younger generations. He added “the new film is even more diverse, and also talks a lot more about race, age-gap issues, the status of safer sex, bisexuality, social media image-making, cosplay… There is something startling and thought-provoking at every turn.”

Produced by Dekkoo Films, Boy Culture: Generation Q heads to all major digital platforms on
November 7, and will begin streaming exclusively on Dekkoo in 2024.
