David Hockney, O.M. C.H. R.A. who is possibly the greatest living English artist and is considered a ‘national treasure,’ will be celebrating his 80th birthday next year. To mark the occasion London’s Tate Gallery will be mounting the largest ever retrospective of Hockney’s work. This exceptional show will gather together an extensive selection of his most famous works celebrating achievements in painting, drawing, print, photography and video across six decades, some of which has never be exhibited before. The show will run from 9 February – 29 May 2017 and you can get full details from http://www.tate.org.uk
Meanwhile this weekend a brand new documentary by filmmaker Randall Wright simply called Hockney opens in selected US movie theaters. It is a wonderful gush-free tribute to this iconic artist and quintessential Englishman whose sexuality has always been a major influence in a great deal of his work, and it is a movie that you will not want to miss.
