Just a few days to go until Rufus Wainwright’s fabulous new album is released as  April 22nd sees the launch of ‘Take All My Loves “  Wainwright’s homage to Shakespeare.

Wainwright chose 9 of Shakespeare’s (154) sonnets  that inspired the tracks he  composed for a stage production that the avant-garde theater director Robert Wilson mounted for the Berliner Ensemble in 2009.  Wainwright actually only sings on three of the sonnets but he is the backing voice  behind guests like Florence Welch, Helena Bonham Carter, and William Shatner.

This is the 12th album for the openly gay and singer/songwriter now married to a German Arts Administrator Jörn Weisbrodt, who has always been very adventurous in his musical styles. His last album Prima Donna was a recording of the Opera that he had written, and in 2007  his live album Rufus Does Judy at Carnegie Hall was his reenactment of one of Judy Garland’s most famous concerts.
