Time to rewatch “Love Is the Devil: Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon”

After visiting the Royal Academy’s major new retrospective of Francis Bacon: Man and Beast you’ll probably want to rewatch John Mayburys 1998 movie on the troubled genius. Love Is the Devil: Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon is a no-hold-barred fictionalized account of the artist and his very tempestuous relationships.   Bacon first spotted the very rough small-time crook George Dyer when he was breaking into his apartment, and this was the start of a very erotic and frighteningly provocative affair that was never destined for a happy ever after ending.

Dyer is played by Daniel Craig in his pre-Bond days when he gives ….. (and reveals ) ….his all
