Goods news for fans of OUR FLAG MEANS DEATH one of the funniest queer (and vastly )underrated TV series as the creator David Jenkins has confirmed there will be a second season after all
If you missed the first season, you lost out on seeing one of the most hilarious and nonsensical comedies we have seen for a long time. It’s the tale of Stede Bonnet ( the brilliant Rhys Darby), an 18th-century aristocrat who decided in a fit of extreme mid-life crisis insanity to abandon the lap of luxury—and his wife and two children along with it—for rollicking high seas adventure as a pirate. Bonnet is a charming idiot hardly cut out to be a buccaneer but it seems like his character is based. on an actual high-society landowner who transformed himself into “the Gentleman Pirate,”. Anyhow his crew aboard the Revenge as they try to make a name for themselves as pirates and cross paths with famed pirate captain Blackbeard (Taika Waititi) and his right-hand-man Izzy Hands (Con O’Neill). How any of the surreal madness we see onscreen is true, is kind of hard to believe, but that’s not really the point in this case.
Whilst this follow-up series is still in production (in New Zealand!) the very good news is that all of Season One can be viewed on HBO Max now. Before you watch the trailer below, you should know that it is impossible not to get addicted to what is probably the campiest show on TV right now.
