Mrs Kasha Davis : Workhorse Queen

Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , , , , ,

We first met Mrs. Kasha Davis a larger than life Drag Queen when she was appearing at one of out favorite cabaret venues : The Pilgrim House in PTown.  We actually interviewed her a couple of times there, but now we are meeting ……. through the power of the internet ……. to talk about Workhorse Queen.

This is a warts-and-all brand new documentary from filmmaker  Angela Washko  about the ups and down of Mrs Davis’s journey seeking brighter lights and bigger stages.  What ever happens along the way never seems to dent her irrepressible good spirits even though she may have to reluctantly re-think her path forward.

Mrs Kasha Davis is  part ‘old school drag’ who rely on their life’s experiences to hone their acts in front of a live audience over years.   These constitute a genre known as drag royalty that include the likes of Lady Bunny, Lypsinka, Coco Peru, Varla Jean Merman, Miss Richfield 1981 and Dina Martina and   that Mrs Davis aspires to be a part off

Prior to the film’s World Premiere at Slamdance Film Festival both star and director talked with Queerguru

Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , , ,

David Färdmar’s debut feature film ARE WE LOST FOREVER is one of the best queer romances of 2020. Already available on DVD/VOD in the US from TLA Releasing & Dekkoo.com, Queerguru caught up with this Swedish writer/director on the eve of Peccadillo Pictures now streaming it in UK & Ireland. We wanted to know in particular if this intimate heartbreaking story was autobiographical ……

Dusty and Shane and their obsession with the Worlds Greatest Singer/Songwriter

Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , , , , ,

Straight after the Sundance Film Festival last year filmmaker Kareem Tabsch, the co-director of the award winning documentary Mucho Mucho Amor called the Queerguru Office.  He was very insistent that we  get hold of a short queer animated film that had been showing at the same screenings as his film.

We did exactly and he was so spot on as  we LOVED The Shawl so much that we tried to interview the filmmaker at that time.   For some reason that never happened but now were more determined as  the film is about to be screened at Metrograph in NY for a week.  This will increase their chances of actually being nominated for an Oscar …… yes, it is that good.

So we tracked down Dusty Childers & Shane O’Neill a very extraordinary queer couple who have such a zest for life and a passion for Stevie Nicks which made for this perfect award winning short animated film  Queerguru  chatted with them and feasted our eyes on the fabulous duo  who are the stars of this wee gem of a film directed by Sara Keiner

The multi-talented Sam Harris on his new film HAM: A MUSICAL MEMOIR

Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , , ,

Queerguru sat down to talk with  the multi-million selling recording artist/actor/performer/director/producer, and LGBTQ activist Sam Harris .  He’s the only person we know who slammed the phone on Elizabeth Taylor thinking it was a prank call!  As if.

With a real zest and unceasing energy for his life on and off the stage, and his very infectious sense of humor, Sam regaled us with stories about his  very successful career that is the subject of Ham. A Musical Memoir.   The film that tracks his whirlwind life and that is so fully of surprises is about to be released on two major streaming platforms on https://watch.laemmle.com/ and www.broadwayhd.com/ It is a sheer joy, as is the man himself.

The film was directed by Andy Putschoegl who took part in our interview too
