Sex, Drugs & Bicycles

For those of you who haven’t yet realized that the Netherlands is a queer utopia, now may be the time to catch up with the rest of the world.  A new award-winning documentary titled “Sex, Drugs & Bicycles” is an American view on the paid vacations, universal healthcare, LGBTQIA+ acceptance, and windmills of The Netherlands,

Directed by Jonathan Blank for  PBS, this engaging tongue-in-cheek film takes a funny and provocative look at Holland and answers the question: is having month-long double paid vacations, legal drug use, no fear of homelessness, and universal healthcare (also for transgender surgery).

To most folks, the Netherlands is best known for its windmills and tulips (and marijuana “coffeeshops”), but it’s also a country that is at the forefront of LGBTQ equality, free speech laws, and animal rights.   Additionally, the Dutch economy is one of the best in the world, and they’re in the top five of almost every quality of life index. Everyone also has excellent health insurance — even sex care for the disabled.

BE warned once you have watched it you will seriously want to move there too
