Queerguru’s José Mayorga reviews NANA’s BOYS : 24 troubled hours in the life of a gay couple

Amari (David J, Cork)  and Q (Jared Wayne Gladly) are a couple of black gay men in their 3Os living in New York City.  The action takes place from one day to the other. It is Amari´s 30th birthday,  but he wakes up feeling old and not in the mood for a celebration. Q is in charge and has cleaned and decorated the apartment for the occasion, hired a caterer for a party that night, and invited a small group of friends. He also has several surprises for Amari,  which include a weekend getaway,

That same morning, there is an attack in Times Square and a mandatory lockdown for 24 hours, so both of them must stay inside, cell phones do not work and there is no electricity.  Because of the emergency, the celebration is canceled, and the men are forced to spend the day together, this allows them to confront their relationship.

Q is a successful lawyer, loves Amari, and even proposes to him, and he will do his best to make him happy, but not necessarily succeed..  Amari is jobless and needs to take the day to figure it out, he seems to feel uncomfortable with Q proposal and his suggestions. We notice the chemistry between them has now vanished.

An afternoon and an evening of revelations take place, and you have to watch the movie to find out about the secrets that they hide, the lies they have said to each other, and what the future brings.

Ashton Pina's  first feature film Nana's Boys can be streamed in Apple TV, Google Play, YouTube and Amazon Prime
