Why this rather touching and moving LGBTQ short from 2019 never surfaced on our horizon before now, is somewhat of a mystery. You Say Hello is a story about suicide and loneliness which amongst LGBT youth is an important issue. It is however also a story of resilience and growth, and by setting it on a windswept California beach, gave us a chance to appreciate the sheer beauty of the story
Its the story of Will (Chris Bellant) a young, suicidal man who on his 27th Birthday makes his way to his family’s empty beach house near Santa Barbara with the intention of ending his life. We see flashbacks to earlier moments with his family, as he makes his preparations. Which includes choosing to spend his last night with Mike a handsome stranger (Zack Kozlow) whom he finds on an escort website
However when Mike arrives, the pair shares an unexpected evening together that might alter both of their lives for the better.
Directed by Lovell Holder from a script by Daniel Talbott we are so happy that we finally got to see this wee film (shot in just 3 days) that we know so many queer men will relate to
