Queerguru reviews CAT DADDIES the delightful tale of men whose lives have been changed by their cat

I came to be a Cat Daddy via marriage. When I met my husband he had a pair of elderly sisters one pure white, and the other jet black.  He made it very clear from day one that they came first in the pecking order in our house. Up to then, I had only known about crazy cat ladies, including several lesbians we knew but I have never heard of cat daddies.

Sadly our two elderly cats passed but now we have a new stunning grey Korat kitten that we got from Animal Rescue and I guess that I am now a cat daddy  Now after seeing Mye Hoang‘s totally irresistible movie Cat Daddies just left me thinking why I hadn’t become one before.

Hoang collected a very diverse and quite unlikely collection of men who are devoted to their own felines.  There is a movie stuntman who uses his cat to romance his stunt lady girlfriend; a school teacher who has an enormous Instagram following for his cat, as does a truck driver in Arizona who shares his cat with girlfriend Destiny who seemingly has a different outfit for every destination.

Then there is 25lbs  Flame that has the whole Belmont Fire Department in Greenville, South Carolina as his cat daddy.  It’s an extraordinary sight seeing this group of macho men being brought to their knees by their adopted ‘son’ .  Then there are two roommates in California who take their cats Zulu and Mr. Fitzy and hiking trips and car rides

However the most touching story of the ex-construction worker in NY who has fallen on hard times and now lives on the street with his devoted cat Lucky who credits with helping him get through each day. The pair’s relationship attracts a local police officer who becomes like a guardian/godmother to both of them.  You will need a whole box of tissues for this part.

In ‘s excellent documentary Kedi about all the stray cats in Istanbul that are treated with such respect and warmth that the cats may all live on the streets but they are very much in control.  So too are all the cats in this movie. Even though Hoang’s story focuses on the daddies, we all know that the cats are the real stars

Totally Unmissable

The film is screening in select movie theaters check here https://www.catdaddiesmovie.com/
