

“Amma’s Pride” chronicles the true story of Srija, a trans woman in a traditional small town in South India, and her fight for the legal and societal recognition of her marriage to a cisgender man, Arun. The title translates to ‘Mother’s Pride’ and the film’s central theme is the unconditional love and unwavering support Srija receives from her mother, Valli, who becomes her biggest champion against societal pressures.
This very compelling and uplifting film has been used as a tool for affirmation and allyship, screening globally to promote visibility and change. It has won multiple awards, including Best Short Documentary at the International Documentary and Short Film Festival in Kerala, making it Academy Award-qualified.
