In this current mass isolation when we are all social distancing in one form or another, it’s the perfect time for some self-reflection. Queerguru came across this intriguing documentary that looks at the lives of 9 queer Brits who inspire with who they are and what they represent. Listening and watching them is so very motivational ….. even if they do not totally reflect all our own views.
Actor/director Michael Unwin acts a non-confrontational interview who gently digs and encourages all his subjects to open up and share. They are human rights campaigner Peter Tatchell, renaissance man Rikki Beadle-Blair, adventurer and motivational speaker Sarah Outen, trans performance artist Travis Alabanza, writer and social commentator Kerry-Anne Mendoza, writer and scholar Meg-John Barker, LGBT Poet Laureate Trudy Howson poet and playwright Gerry Potter and Alice Denney.
The film is a mix of interviews and performance pieces, the film is an unapologetic celebration of queer lives being lived to the fullest by trailblazers in theatre, politics, mental health, performance and world exploration. The subjects of the film are given the space and opportunity to revisit their roots, to contemplate the ideas and desires that drive them forward, and ultimately to give a vision of the worlds they wish to create.R
