Saturday, Aug 25th sees the opening of the 3rd Edition of SF QUEER FILM FEST a showcase of ground-breaking indie films by Queer filmmakers, selected on merit. Most appropriate is the Opening Night Film is FILTHY GORGEOUS which is a tribute to the late San Francisco Drag Icon Heklina. This documentary is directed by Sean Mullens and produced by Deena Davenport has been updated exclusively for screening at the SF Queer Film Fest, with never-seen-before footage of Heklina.
The documentary is about TRANNYSHACK San Francisco’s infamous drag performance night club. Shocking and delighting audiences for over 12 years, it’s part drag performance art and part low-brow trash. Hosted by celebrities such as Lady Gaga, Gwen Stefani, Ana Matronic, and more. Whatever experience you receive, Trannyshack continues to defy all expectations and is still known as one of the best must-see underground experiences in San Francisco.
