Filmmaker Leon Lopez loves telling stories ….. queer ones that is

When we recently interviewed  queer Brit actor/performer/writer/director Leon Lopez  one of the things we discussed was his new web series  DISTANCING.

Shot entirely on IPhone in isolation during the Covid 19 Lockdown in London, this six part series that Lopez directed by remote its the story of two men in a relationship but physically separated because of the pandemic.  To add an neat edge to the story written by James McDermott, the actors are real life couple  Kane Surry and Elliot Hadley.

Distancing follows Adam (Surry), who is working on a supermarket fish counter in London during lock-down, and his boyfriend Jake (Hadley) who is stuck in Italy. Before lock-down, Jake flew out to Rome to visit his best friend and ex boyfriend Tom. During Jake’s visit, flights back from Italy were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic and, much to Adam’s annoyance, Jake is now stranded in Italy with his ex!

So far Lopez has released three of the six episodes of the series on You Tube and we are totally hooked .  It’s impossible for any gay man not to be able to relate to Adam and Jack’s situation as it unfolds, but maybe not all of us would handle  it with such their fine sense of humor.  Check it out now and you’ll see why …… and watch this space as Lopez will be sharing the final 3 episodes  with Queerguru soon.
