Back in the summer the obnoxious Lt Governor of North Carolina Mark Robinson sunk as low as he could. In a Baptist Church he preached , “There’s no reason anybody anywhere in America should be telling any child about transgenderism, homosexuality, any of that filth, And yes, I called it filth. And if you don’t like it that I called it filth, come see me and I’ll explain it to you.”
There was worldwide condemnation for what the White House Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates called “repugnant and offensive. ” The statement continued: “The role of a leader is to bring people together and stand up for the dignity and rights of everyone; not to spread hate and undermine their own office.” Robinson, a Republican refused to either apologize or resign.
Fast forward to the present time and a North Carolina Brewery has stepped up and is launching what it calls “Lieutenant Governor’s Fund for the Fabulous” in response to the state’s lieutenant governor referring to the LGBTQ community as “filth.”
The brewery is imploring those who drink the beer to “post a toast to the Lt. Governor” on social media, “thanking him for all the work he’s doing through the #fundforthefabulous.” @markrobinsonNC
It should also remind us all that we so need to support the local LGBTQ as North Carolinas Republicans lawmakers keep introducing a spate of anti-LGBTQ discrimination measures.
