In 2013 Ryan Johnson’s star-studded comic whodunit KNIVES OUT collected a neat 52 Awards and even an Oscar Nomination. Detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) investigates the death of the patriarch of an eccentric, combative family. After such a critical and commercial success, it’s no surprise that writer/director Johnson is bringing his detective back for another drama. In GLASS ONION: A KNIVES OUT MYSTERY Blanc travels to Greece to peel back the layers of a mystery involving a new cast of colorful characters.
And evidently, Detective Blanc is not the same man as he was before. It was hinted that he was could be gay in the first movie, but now Johnson has cleared up that all up, by saying he is queer and his male lover is going to have a cameo appearance. The thought of our favorite James Bond playing gay has been THE talk of the Queerguru Office for the past week.
In this stand-alone sequel, his costars are Edward Norton, Kathryn Hahn, Leslie Odom Jr., Jessica Henwick, Madelyn Cline, Kate Hudson and Dave Bautista. Plus Janelle Monáe who Netflix told us has an incredibly mysterious role!
Glass Onion A Knives Out Mystery comes to movie theaters for one week only on November 23
and premieres on Netflix on December 23.
