Before queer filmmaker (and cat fancier) Kareem Tabsch picked up an Emmy Nomination for co-directing Mucho Mucho Amor: The Legend of Walter Mercado which is still in Netflix’s Top Ten, he introduced the world to Cherry Pop. Cherry Pop was a cat but no ordinary feline. Beloved by her wealthy socialite owners, she lived life in the lap of luxury. Her taste for filet mignon and the comfort of Rolls Royces made Cherry Pop a celebrity before her death in 1995.
It is totally true story that is both heartwarming and hilarious and although her owners were not members of the LGBTQ+ community we could see so many of our friends wanting to have their own Cherry Pops. If only they had the money to match.
