Books & Booze @ Single Womens Weekend in PTown

Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , ,

There are some events here in PTown that QUEERGURU has kind of avoided for the past 18 years that we have spent our summers up here . Until now that is. Here at the start of the season is the annual Single Womens Weekend which is a chance for lovelorn lesbians to make a lifetime connection or a holiday hookup. Being neither single or a woman we thought we should at least steer clear of some of the activities such as Speed Dating or the Flirty Dance Party, and maybe test the water gingerly attending an event that has two elements we do love: Books & Booze.

So on a rainy Saturday afternoon, we found ourselves as one of our favorite haunts the Harbor Lounge for a book reading and mixology event called Clink. Three lesbian authors Randi Triant, Kim Baker and Lucy J Madison read excerpts from their new novels and then Julez Weinberg the writer of a Mixology Book demonstrated some of her skills.

Peter C Bisuito is a very funny man.  In fact, he is the World’s only gay muscle bear comedian and for the past 6 years he has been living his dream making the Bear community, in particular, laughing their heads off all around the globe.

Now he is on the brink of fulfilling another part of his ambitions and make his own dramedy #LGBTQ web series Vent and Chester

queerguru caught up with him just as he was about to start shooting the Pilot for this interview we filmed for www.queergurutv.com via Facetime

Our friends P David Ebersole & #ToddHughes are having a whale of a time right now MANSFIELD 66/67 is on streaming platforms in the US, plus Peccadillo Pictures are releasing it in UK cinemas this Friday. Meanwhile, this charmed pair of filmmakers are jetting off to Festival de Cannes to preview their new doc on Pierre Cardin.

We sat down with them last summer at Provincetown Film Society & Festival and threw some shade ……here’s our interview with Roger Walker-Dack filmed by Hussein  Wentz at Sage Inn

YEN TAN talks about his new AIDS drama 1985

Posted on Categories queerguru.tvLabels , , , , ,

Queer filmmaker YEN TAN’s latest exceptional drama takes place in the early stages of the AIDS pandemic when so many gay men who had yet to come out to their families about their sexuality, were now faced with dealing with their HIV diagnosis alone.  1985 is one such story where a young Texan man goes home to visit with his family probably for the last time and then is destined to take his secret to the grave with him.

1985 was selected as the Closing Night Gala film at OUTshine, Miami’s LGBTQ Film Festival where it played to a sold-out crowd.  Whilst Tan was in town, he talked with Roger Walker-Dack about the film, and why it is important that movies about AIDS are still made.

The interview was filmed by Hussein Wentz for www.queergurutv.com
