Barbie Nation: An Unauthorized Tour : 25th Anniversary Director’s Cut

If you really cannot wait to see if Greta Gerwig’s new BARBIE is really as good as all the advance hype, then here’s a real- treat that you should not miss.

Come Tuesday 27th June there will a 25th Anniversary Directors Cut of the award-winning BARBIE NATION. From Emmy-Award filmmaker Susan Stern , this iconic cult classic fearlessly delves into the depths of Barbie’s dreamhouse intimately exploring the (very) peculiar ways in which people have embraced Barbie throughout history.  Stern also looks at the doll’s own saucy ride from a German sex toy to the savior of Mattel.

She includes Barbie beauty contests, Barbie crucifixions, the underwhelming response to the first black Barbie, and even a report on the consumption of Barbie heads for sexual gratification.  Stern’s movie is a sheer joy, and often a real eye-opener at times, and seeing a very young RuPaul on screen makes us appreciate how so many gay men worship and adore this 11-5″  doll.
