The openly gay extremely talented character actor MICHAEL JETER had this woebegotten face which mixed with his frenetic high energy kept him in work for years. Probably best known for his Emmy Winning performance as Herman Stiles on the TV sitcom Evening Shade, but his resume included many major films such as The Green Mile, The Fisher King, Waterworld, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas,
In the Queerguru Office we particularly remember Jeter’s joyous turn on Broadway in Grand Hotel which we never ever tire of watching, In the clip below he is performing with Brent Barrett “We’ll Take Glass Together” during the 1990 Tony Awards telecast. Afterwards he goes on to accept the well- deserved Tony Award for his riveting dance. What is so surprising is that Broadway didn’t use him more often.
Jeter was ‘married’ to Sean Blue until 2013 when Jeter sadly died from complications of his epilepsy just 50 years old. He was an extraordinary talent who we really miss.
