If you are one of Queerguru’s regular readers you will have noticed that we are somewhat obsessed with Bridgerton star Jonathan Bailey .  So we jumped to attention when a new PR release landed on our News Editor  desk that read “Jonathan Bailey Just Like Us!”

Of course he really isn’t as he’s just won an award for raising almost $45K for an LGBTQ+ youth charity.  He did it by running the Hackney half marathon in London last May for Just Like Us who provide an ambassador program for queer youngsters, training them to raise awareness of LGBTQ+ issues in schools, and helping to prevent the bullying of queer pupils.

Bailey, a patron of the Charity  accepted the celebrity fundraiser of the year award at the 2024 GoCardless JustGiving Awards, hosted by TV’s Rylan Clark, on Wednesday (18 September).

It’s amazing to be able to highlight brilliant causes, especially for the LGBT+ community. I am very honored,” he said after picking up the award. “This is the stuff that means the most.”

Jonathan is fresh from starring opposite Matt Bomer in the Showtime adaptation of Fellow Travelers,  for which he won the Critics’ Choice Award for Best Supporting Actor in a Miniseries and earned a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie.

He will next play Fiyero in the two-part movie musical Wicked, based on the musical of the same name.  .The handsome prince is accused of pretending to be shallow and self -absorbed to which he declares is no pretense as he proud of  being shallow and very deeply self-absorbed

Jonathan will also star in Jurassic World Rebirth, the seventh installment of the Jurassic film series, as well as a supporting role in the third season of the Netflix teen drama series Heartstopper.
