The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me : special screening of the 20th Anniversary performance

The special 20th Anniversary special multi-actor performance of David Drake’s award winning one-man playTHE NIGHT LARRY KRAMER KISSED ME is having one-night-only streamed presentation.  The screening is sponsored by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS and is FREE BUT donations are encouraged to Provincetown Theater, where Drake is the Artistic Director and which currently is shuttered because of COVID Lockdown.

Broken up into a series of stories, Drake’s play  abstractly documents a gay man’s journey of self-discovery, while also addressing the AIDS crisis that plagued the community in the 1980s.

After joining the activist group ACT UP, Drake began writing autobiographical monologues about the AIDS crisis that eventually became a one-man show about this critical point in American history. Drake won an Obie for his work, and the original Off-Broadway run at the Perry Street Theatre, produced by  Sean Strub and Tom Viola, became one of the longest-running solo shows in New York theatre history. For its 20th anniversary in 2013, The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me was re-imagined from a one-man show to one featuring an ensemble cast.

This special performance at the Gerald Lynch Theater at John Jay College. was directed by Tony nominee Robert La Fosse.  The cast includes Brandon Cordeiro , Tony winner André De Shields, Tony nominee Rory O’Malley,  Anthony Rapp , Chad Ryan, Donald C. Shorter, Jr Aaron Tone, Tony winner BD Wong and David Drake.

The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me June 28 at 7 PM ET to benefit Provincetown Theater. The stream will be available at ProvincetownTheater.org and on YouTube.
