The multi-award winning British musical Jerry Springer : The Opera was an enormous success in London when it opened in 2004 and ran for several years. However It took several more before it opened in the US where it was received with far less enthusiasm.
Probably partly due to the fact that the musical contains irreverent treatment of Christian themes, extensive profanity, and surreal images, such as a troupe of tap-dancing Ku Klux Klan members.
The show also proved controversial when eventually the BBC broadcast it and it racked up a record 55,000 complaints.
Asides from spoken words from the main character Jerry, the show was all music, and one of the tracks was re-worked to become an enormous dance music hit in clubs at the time. And we’ll confess a very big favourite in the Queerguru Office.
Now years later we have just come across a brand new mix by Manny Patel a very talented soul with an eye for campness and we think his video should definitely be nominated for Best Dance Video of the Covid Quarantine.
Before you click play ……clear as much space as you can, then turn the volume up as high as possible …. and then let Alison Jiear take you away
P.S. After you have played it 10 times without a break, you may want to apologise to the neighbors as your paths will eventually cross again one day/
