There’s a slight difference between choosing a honeymoon destination and choosing a gay honeymoon destination. Even though we are all equal, it seems that gay people tend to search for new traveling opportunities and new and exotic destinations, thus leading straight couples to follow their example. This means that gay couples have a difficult job of finding the next “it” honeymoon destination. After checking out all the exotic islands of the Caribbean, traveling to Asia and seeing the most beautiful capitals of Europe, it is time to think of something new. Croatia is one of the countries whose potential has never been fully discovered, and that’s one reason why you should have this country as the destination for your gay honeymoon when all of this COVID-19 madness stops. Why? Take a look:
The first reason might be the most interesting one to you, especially if you’re an adventurous and romantic person. All coastal towns in Croatia, even all the pretty islands that we will focus on a bit later, are homes to some of the most beautiful secluded beaches there are. If you choose the right town, or the right island, you will find yourself in a sea of small secluded beaches that are just enough for two – which is an amazing idea for your honeymoon as you can literally do anything you want there. And do not worry, even if you get caught in the act, nobody’s going to disturb you. Once tourists see that there’s a couple on a very small secluded beach (which are very often divided by big rocks that block the view from the next beach), they’ll move on and find another beach for their pleasure.
2. Wonderful yachting experience
Croatia is also popular because of its pretty islands, and it doesn’t matter which one you choose, you will like it and you will have fun. However, you do not have to be located on an island in order to experience some of the best activities that are popular in Croatia. For instance, you can go there and have yourself an amazing Croatia yachting experience that is on the bucket list of many people around the world. The Mediterranean is a wonderful area to yacht around; there’s a plethora of secluded beaches, small coastal villages where you can dock and have a glass of the best white wine, or have a great seafood meal. Even if you do not own a yacht, you can always rent one or find some great tour options there.
3. Small islands everywhere
We mentioned the Croatian islands a couple of times, yet we haven’t given the exact names of the islands that you should have in mind if you opt for this step. The reason why this is a great honeymoon destination is that you will rarely find a Croatian island that is full of parties and young people wanting to get wasted. All of the Croatian islands are very calm, quiet, and amazing for everyone who just wants to relax on the beach, wine and dine in the most authentic way. If you want some peace of mind and enjoy some amazing scenery and beaches, do not miss out on the island of Brac. Once there, make sure to find accommodation in the village of Bol which is the best village on this island for a stay. Hvar is also very close, and this might be the most popular tourist destination as far as the Croatian islands are concerned. You can also have Vis, Korcula and Losinj as options as well. The islands might also be the best option for a gay honeymoon as they are full of tourists. Croats have had certain homophobic incidents in the past, but this is changing at a very fast pace. However, if you want to be on the safe side, go with an island.
4. Have an excursion at Dubrovnik
It doesn’t matter where in Croatia you are located, Dubrovnik is very close, and this is definitely the #1 place you have to visit. Dubrovnik is the most exclusive place in Croatia, which means that the accommodation there is a bit more expensive. This old town is also crowded with tourists, so everyone suggests to spend a day there and go back to your town, or spend only one night if you really want to. Apart from being extremely appealing aesthetically (which is a plus for your Instagram game), Dubrovnik was also the place where Game of Thrones filmed their King’s Landing scenes. This means that not only will you be visiting the most authentic town in the Mediterranean, you will also be taking a small trip to the Game of Thrones universe.
5. The romantic sunsets
Speaking of honeymoons, not even one honeymoon should end without a romantic dinner for two overlooking the sunset, or watching the beautiful sunrise on the beach. On the plus side, you will be able to experience this regardless of your actual location in Croatia. All of the sunsets are beyond words, and all of the sunrises even more magical. Find yourself a secluded cove that we mentioned earlier, bring some blankets, wine, food, sex toys if you’d like, and have yourself the most amazing night of your life.
You will see that once you visit Croatia, you will never want to leave. You might also want to experience this country as it’s slowly gaining a lot of popularity and in a couple of years it will be huge, so be the first now!
