New (and not so new) Brit Music from Sam Smith, Rick Astley & Olly Alexander

The first music video in our selection is from Brit Oscar winner Sam Smith and it is for the remix of his track Pray featuring the rapper Logic.  It was directed by Joe Connor and filmed on and beside the shores of Lake Como, Italy and mostly set inside the famous Villa Erba, and it features a stunning montage of dreamy imagery

The Toronto-based Choir! Choir! Choir!  sent a video to  Rick Astley to invite to come sing with them when he was in town on Tour.  And lo and behold, he accepted and showed up and performed his classic song Never Gonne Give You Up with the choir enthusiastically backing him up.  Be prepared to be moved by this totally charming video.

Years & Years the Brit synthpop group, with gay frontman Olly Alexander,  are back with new song If You’re Over Me,  and it’s all about gay heartbreak. The song talks about being strung along by someone but then reclaiming your time. The lyrics read: ‘One minute you say we’re a team, then you’re telling me you can’t breathe. Well, you should set me free, baby, if you’re over me.

‘This heart just wants to break,’ Olly sings.
